Iroise Doublet (born in 1993, Rennes) lives and works in Clermont-Ferrand. She received her MFA from ENSBA Paris in 2017. Valuing a holistic approach to reality and the fragment as a prismatic form of its experience, she develop a work at the intersection of the mediums of painting, drawing and writing. Marked by a lineage of women artists, her approach is permeated by the feminist aspects of a history of representation, narration and self-writing. Between materiality, visual pleasure and conceptual language, she questions the autonomy of painting within a heterogeneous practice, renewing genres in the era of a post-media visual culture: Are there female subjects? Can desire be reinvented with and in painting?

Iroise Doublet has had recent solo exhibitions at Café des Glaces, Tonnerre (2023); Kunsthalle Marcel Duchamp | The Forestay Museum of Art, Cully (2023); Gallery Ann Mazzotti, Basel (2021). Her work has been shown in group exhibitions at Strike, Paris (2024); Dorossy Salon, Seoul (2021); Galerie municipale Jean-Collet, Vitry-sur-Seine (2019) amongst others. 

 

Iroise Doublet received the Lélo Fiaux Foundation Grant (2024 & 2023) and the Novembre à Vitry Prize (2018). She has participated in the residency program at Les Ateliers, Clermont-Ferrand (2024); Hôtel des Glaces, with the Frac Bourgogne, Tonnerre (2023); the Fondazione Lac o Le Mon, Lecce (2018); the Kimonos Art Center, Pafos (2017). 

 

Iroise Doublet's works are featured in the permanent collection of the City Art Fund, Vitry-sur-Seine (2018).
